Why am I receiving a JavaScript error message when I open MOVE?
Published: 6/6/2025

Please restart your computer first. If that doesn’t fix the issue, keep reading for more help.

The MOVE update, to version 2.1.2.433, did not replace shortcuts that were pinned to your taskbar. A fix has been applied and pushed out, reflecting version 2.1.2.437, so the previously pinned shortcut should now open MOVE as expected. However, if the error persists then MOVE has not yet auto-updated and the previously pinned shortcut must be removed and a new shortcut must be pinned.

For those who already received this JavaScript Error
If the user successfully opens MOVE via the desktop shortcut or the Windows start menu, then they will be able to log in as usual. However, when they close MOVE, and reopen it, they should notice they are still logged in. This is due to the errored attempt to open MOVE starting processes that are still running in the background.

If a user opens MOVE and is not prompted to log in then the following steps must be taken:
1. Close MOVE, eCrash, and MapClick.
2. Right-Click on the task bar and select Task Manager.
3. Click on the Name column to sort everything by name.
4. Scroll down and locate all instances of MOVE.
5. Right-Click MOVE and select End task.
6. Repeat this until MOVE is no longer listed.
7. Close Task Manager.

MOVE will now prompt for login upon launching.

However, this will continue to occur if the previously pinned taskbar shortcut is not removed and replaced. Again, a fix has being pushed out, so hopefully this limits the number of users affected.

Why do I see an orange banner stating a new version of eCrash is available?
Published: 11/14/2024

If your machine is not automatically updating then something on your organization's network is blocking the CRDL Updater Service from working. Please contact your IT support group to help resolve this issue.

Louisiana eCrash should automatically update in the background due to the CRDL Updater Service. Even if MOVELA applications are closed, the CRDL Updater tries to check if all the applications are up to date. If the applications need an update then it will attempt to update the application in the background of your machine.

Why am I receiving an "unknown authentication user error" message?
Published: 6/10/2024

If you are getting the "unknown authentication user error" message then that means that your time on your machine doesn't match the server's time (normal CST). This time-check is part of the authentication process. Check the clock on your machine and make sure it is set to CST time. More information can be found in the National Institute of Standards and Technology website.

What is LA eCrash?
Published: 4/27/2021

The LA eCrash software system will be Louisiana's official state-wide solution to electronically capture motor vehicle accident reporting information. Crash reports generated through it are quick, accurate, secure, and legible.

The LA eCrash system provides full-scale consistency and fewer interpretation errors in crash data. Officers can enter accident reporting information using a laptop in their patrol car or a desktop computer in their office. The electronic submission of the data helps to collect traffic crash reporting information in a more timely manner.

Design features include:

  • Individual reports customized to reflect any number of involved drivers, units, persons, pedestrians, or other non-motorists
  • Required report sections remain highlighted in red until complete
  • Data elements are tracked and a validation check prevents the report from being submitted with incomplete data
  • Electronic submission reduces duplicate efforts and provide immediate access to report data
  • Integrated Easy Street Draw software for diagramming crash scenes.

CARTS will continue to analyze the motor vehicle accident data and produce Louisiana Crash Data and Statistical Reports using data collected from the LA eCrash application.

How do third-party vendors submit crash data to the state of Louisiana?
Published: 3/17/2021

Third party vendor documents and database schema can be found on the Documentation page of this site. Provide your third party vendor the “Third Party Vendor Docs” document.

Will this affect current CAD/RMS integration?
Published: 3/17/2021

Yes. Documentation is available on the Documentation page of this site. Provide your CAD/RMS vendor the “LA eCrash API Information” document. Also reference “How do I export my eCrash data?” below.

What are the specification requirements for LA eCrash?
Published: 3/17/2021

The system requirements for Louisiana eCrash are the same as the Windows 10 operating system requirements. Those are detailed here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-10-specifications

For overall user experience, we would suggest a minimum of 4 GB of RAM. Also, keep in mind crash reports are stored on the user’s machine so hard drive space should be taken into consideration. For overall user experience, 64 GB of hard drive space should be available for the LA eCrash, MOVE, and MapClick applications.

Will LA eCrash replace LACRASH?
Published: 3/17/2021

Yes. LACRASH is no longer being supported and submitted reports from it are no longer being accepted. All reports must be submitted with LA eCrash (or third party vendor).

Where can I download LA eCrash?
Published: 3/17/2021

The LA eCrash installer can be found in the “Quick Links” section of the About page. Click the “Download LA eCrash” link to begin the download.

What does LA eCrash cost?
Published: 3/17/2021

Louisiana eCrash will be provided free of charge to Louisiana Law Enforcement agencies through a project funded by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission. The Center for Analytics & Research in Transportation Safety (CARTS) at Louisiana State University, will facilitate the deployment and provide real time support to Law Enforcement Agencies in Louisiana.

When did the project begin?
Published: 3/16/2021

In the summer of 2019, Col. Kevin Reeves of the Louisiana State Police asked the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development (DOTD), the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission (LHSC), and the Louisiana State Police (LSP) to form a committee to oversee a major update to Louisiana’s Crash Report form and its supplements. Since then, the Louisiana Crash Report Steering Committee (LA-CRSC) has made great progress in fulfilling this mission.

Why update the crash report?
Published: 3/16/2021

After over 16 years of use, the current crash report form no longer meets the needs of the transportation community. The new electronic crash report, named “Louisiana eCrash”, will be based on the latest Model Minimum Uniform Crash Criteria (MMUCC) guidelines and will generate the data necessary to improve highway safety in Louisiana.
